The company had built a substantial footprint across Metro Phoenix, including multiple call center and corporate locations. At the same time, its workplace model had fundamentally changed. More than half of Consumer Cellular’s employees now work remotely, while functions including executive leadership, marketing, technology, finance and human resources increasingly require spaces designed for collaboration and face-to-face interaction.

Consumer Cellular partnered with Keyser to identify and secure a headquarters capable of bringing those priorities together.

THE CHALLENGE

Consumer Cellular wasn’t simply looking for more office space. The company needed to rethink how its physical footprint could support a business and workforce that had changed significantly since the pandemic.

KEYSER’S STRATEGY

Keyser approached the assignment through the lens of Consumer Cellular’s broader business strategy: not simply how much space the company occupied today, but what kind of workplace it would need to support the organization it was becoming.

The headquarters search prioritized a Class A environment capable of serving multiple purposes—from daily collaboration among corporate teams to training remote employees and hosting larger company gatherings.

Location was equally strategic. Scottsdale offered Consumer Cellular access to executive talent, a strong labor pool and an attractive environment for recruiting employees from across the country. As Ed explained, the Phoenix-Scottsdale market offered “material benefits from a labor pool standpoint, from a cost of business standpoint” while making executive recruitment significantly easier.

Keyser ultimately helped Consumer Cellular secure the entire 123,340-square-foot Raintree building, creating a central hub while preserving flexibility across the company’s broader Phoenix portfolio.

Keyser helped Consumer Cellular establish a new Scottsdale headquarters designed around where the company is going—not simply where it is today.

The 123,340-square-foot facility will become the company’s primary Metro Phoenix location, bringing together executive leadership, finance, marketing, technology, human resources, facilities management and customer service leadership while providing a destination for remote employees, training and company-wide gatherings.

The headquarters also allows Consumer Cellular to strategically reduce portions of its legacy Phoenix-area footprint over time rather than forcing an immediate, wholesale consolidation.

Most importantly, the facility is part of a larger growth strategy. Consumer Cellular has grown to approximately 4.5 million subscribers and $1.8 billion in revenue, and Ed described the company’s focus as positioning the business for its next ten years of expansion.
